MBA alumna protects data of millions at innovative tech company

CMU alumna Tomisin Bolorunduro moved to Vancouver, a city where she knew no one, in the midst of a pandemic. But what she moved for was worth it: a job at Trulioo, an innovative tech start-up and global leader in online identity verification and data privacy.
In today's digital world, one can do almost everything online, from opening a bank account to buying cryptocurrency to renting a house—but all these transactions require identity verification and data protection to ensure they're safe and legitimate.

As the world faces the brazen attack on Ukraine, the learning community of Canadian Mennonite University aches for lives lost and torn apart by horrific violence. We walk alongside current CMU students from Ukraine, their families who are suffering greatly, and also our alumni living in Ukraine.
CMU joins with all who denounce Russian acts of violence against Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all those with ties to the region. Together we seek dignity and peace within the sovereign state of Ukraine.

CMU student Ruby Anderson is passionate about sustainability and climate justice. That's why she is the Student Climate Ambassador to CMU through the Center for Sustainable Climate Solutions (CSCS) for the 2021-22 academic year.
CSCS is an initiative of Eastern Mennonite University, Goshen College, and Mennonite Central Committee. It works in Anabaptist and other faith communities to respond to climate change challenges by researching climate solutions, developing and equipping leaders, building networks, and inspiring action.

If you looked at photos from CMU student Tai Linklater's childhood, you'd see countless shots of her holding different reptiles, unable to control the excitement on her face. Her dream career was to be a herpetologist, studying reptiles and amphibians. Until she found out it required calculus.
That's because Linklater has Specific Learning Disorder, a disability that in her case manifests itself in trouble with visual spatial awareness and extreme difficulties with mathematics.

CMU student cycles across U.S. to learn about climate change and boost awareness

This summer, CMU student Miriam Huebner is switching out her textbooks and laptop for her helmet and bike shorts. Huebner is cycling 6,024 kilometres (3,743 miles) across the United States for climate justice.
She and 17 other riders are participating in the Climate Ride, a two-month bike trip from Seattle to Washington D.C. Along the way, the group will learn about the impacts of climate change on diverse communities, raise awareness of climate issues, connect people across the country with other people and organizations fighting climate change, and grow closer to the land.

David Nelson, Mia Loeppky, Matthew Pahl, and Eleanor Reimer are awarded this year's endowments: $3,500 annually up to four years, to a maximum value of $14,000 each.
CMU takes great pride in announcing the four winners of this year's Leadership Scholarships: David Nelson of Winnipeg, MB (Westgate Mennonite Collegiate); Mia Loeppky of Selkirk, MB (Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School); Matthew Pahl of Morden, MB (Morden Collegiate Institute); and Eleanor Reimer of Winnipeg, MB (Sisler High School) are the winners of up to $14,000 each.

CMU recently installed new high-quality air purifiers throughout its Shaftesbury campus as its learning community returned to in-person and online hybrid classes for the winter semester.
The university is continually looking for ways to improve conditions on campus that will ensure the well-being of its students, staff, and faculty. This innovative technology from Greentech Environmental Canada adds "an additional layer of protection to the air quality on campus in a way that's financially doable and would encourage confidence to return to campus when we were able to do so," says Julene Sawatzky, Interim Director of Administration.

Why more and more CMU alumni are including small-scale agriculture in their life-paths, during and after school.
This year the CMU Farm celebrates its 10th anniversary season. And while the challenges of COVID-19 have reshaped things for the farm, from celebration plans to daily operations of their CSA project, Autumn's work is largely unaltered: harvest season proceeds apace, and the steward Metanoia Farmers' collective are already forming their plans for next season.
