CMU’s Anna Schwartz wins Canada Music Week’s Student Composer Competition for Manitoba
Anna Schwartz is drinking in the opportunities CMU's vibrant musical community provides. Following her provincial win last month, her original work "Prairie Sunrise" now goes to compete at the national level.
CMU's Anna Schwartz has taken first place at the provincial level of this year's Canada Music Week Student Composer Competition, hosted by the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers' Association. Schwartz's original composition for orchestra, "Prairie Sunrise," earned $200 in prize money and will now go on to be entered in the nation-wide summer competition. Schwartz also entered an original piece for choir that garnered honourable mention.

CMU announces the 2020 Leadership Scholarship winners
Elizabeth Connelly, Hillary Jorgensen, Katrina Lengsavath, and Danika Warkentin are the recipients of this year's endowments: $3,500 annually up to four years, to a maximum value of $14,000 each.
CMU takes great pride in announcing the four winners of this year's Leadership Scholarships: Elizabeth Connelly of St. Bruno, SK (homeschooled); Hillary Jorgensen of Morris, MB (Morris School, K-12); Katrina Lengsavath of Winnipeg, MB (Gordon Bell High School); and Danika Warkentin of Pincher Creek, AB (St. Michael's Catholic School, K-12) are the winners of up to $14,000 each.

Graduate theology student awarded CMU’s first SSHRC scholarship
A CMU student has been awarded a prestigious Canada Graduate Scholarship worth $17,500 by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). This is the first year CMU has been eligible to distribute this scholarship, due to the university's successful federal research funding.
Sarah Deckert is a student in CMU's Graduate School of Theology and Ministry, working on a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. The SSHRC scholarship will go towards the work she is doing on her thesis, which is currently titled, "Embodied Pneumatology: The Role of the Holy Spirit in Healing the Wounds of Colonialism."
