CMU unveils new visual identity: built on tradition, bold for the future

CMU has unveiled a new visual identity that reflects its deep roots in the Anabaptist tradition while boldly articulating its vision for the future. The refreshed identity features a new logo, a renewed colour palette, and a modern design system that will be integrated across campus, digital platforms, and publications in the coming months.
The rebrand comes as CMU celebrates its 25th anniversary as a university. "This is more than a new logo," said Dr. Cheryl Pauls, CMU President. "It offers a visual expression of a university moving ahead with clarity and courage, remaining deeply grounded in the faith, learning, and pursuit of peace-justice that endures and continues to shape our story."

On Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 PM, Canadian Mennonite University will launch the new academic year with a celebration of the first district geothermal energy system at a Manitoba post-secondary education institution.
"As we welcome our students and community back to campus, I am proud to showcase this important milestone in our efforts to build a more sustainable future," said Dr. Cheryl Pauls, CMU President. "Poettcker Hall is just the first of many buildings we will connect to the district geothermal system on our journey to a net zero campus."

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is delighted to report that Gloria Rengifo has been appointed Vice-President, Finance commencing April 14, 2025.
Rengifo brings to CMU a wealth of experience and connections from across the financial sphere, including operational and charitable initiatives. For the last 20 years, she has helped guide NGOs of varying sizes in Canada and internationally.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Charlie Peronto to the position of Vice-President, Student Life and Campus Operations commencing April 1, 2025.
Peronto began his CMU career in 2014, serving first as Residence Director for six years, then as Director of Student Life (2020) and Dean of Student Life (2021).

Dr. Janet Brenneman, Professor of Music, has been appointed Academic Dean of Canadian Mennonite University (CMU).
Effective July 2025, Dr. Brenneman begins a five-year term as Academic Dean spending her time working to support CMU faculty processes as well as maintaining a small teaching load to conduct CMU Choirs.

Edwin and Agnes Redekopp of Winnipeg have gifted CMU with a $2,000,000 endowment, to create the P.M. Friesen Chair in Biblical and Theological Studies (BTS).
The Edwin and Agnes Redekopp Endowment Fund will support permanent financing for a position at CMU that ensures the ongoing strength of BTS excellence in teaching, research, and service—particularly in ways that provide service to the Mennonite Brethren (MB) church tradition and draw on its witness.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is pleased to collaborate with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Canada in a new project, Locally-Led Indigenous Nature-based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Zimbabwe (LINCZ).
This project is made possible with the support of Global Affairs Canada, which has allocated up to $15 million to MCC. This initiative will include funding to CMU to collaborate with Zimbabwean academic and development organizations involved in the project.
