CMU announces 2020 fall enrolment numbers

CMU starts the 2020-21 academic year as the only fully accredited Manitoba university to provide on-campus living and in-person classes beginning Fall 2020. As of September 8, undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at CMU's main campus sits at 617 students.
Preliminary reporting indicates an overall 1.9% decline in students enrolled in the CMU Shaftesbury campus undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

With lament, CMU announces its decision to discontinue the operations of the Outtatown Discipleship School indefinitely due to the uncertainties perpetuated by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The evolving scope and effect of the global pandemic and the unpredictability of future conditions have clarified CMU's need to discontinue the Outtatown program. The university cannot anticipate how the ground will settle within church and society, or what kind of program may be feasible and desirable to students in the aftermath of the pandemic. We acknowledge the impact of this decision for CMU, the church, the many students whose lives have been profoundly shaped by Outtatown, and the cherished partners in Canada and Guatemala—many of whom bear a disproportionate burden of these very challenging times.

Canadian Mennonite University has released its framework for the upcoming academic year, entitled 'Learning and Living Well in an Era of Pandemic'.
The framework offers details for on-campus learning, teaching, and life for students, faculty, and staff. Overseen by a Pandemic Response and Recovery Committee, the document will be updated as health guidelines and clinical best practices continue to evolve, to ensure the safety of the on-campus and wider community.

Two CMU Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies (PACTS) students will assist completion of Indigenous Language pronunciation database essential to new opera.
Co-creators of the new opera Li Keur, Riel's Heart of the North—Dr. Suzanne Steele, Métis poet and scholar, composer Neil Weisensel, Adjunct Professor of Music at CMU—have hired two CMU students to learn and assist on the opera's production team as they move towards the show's first staged production in 2021. Senior PACTS students Bryna Link of Peguis First Nation and Hannah Connelly of Saskatchewan will take on the roles of Communications Assistant and Production Assistant respectively.
