Notice of confirmed case of COVID-19 at CMU Shaftesbury Campus on November 2 (low risk)
Dear students, faculty, and staff of CMU,
A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been identified at the CMU Shaftesbury Campus. The individual was on campus on November 2 between the hours of 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM, and followed all public health measures instituted by CMU. This is a low-risk situation with no close contacts identified at CMU. No one is required to self-isolate from this exposure.
As a general recommendation by Manitoba Health, if you or any member of your close contacts (friends and/or family you live with) develops new onset or worsening of any one symptom listed in Column A or any two or more symptoms listed in Column B (see table below), even if they are mild, immediately isolate them from others. Call Health Links—Info Santé at 204.788.8200 or toll-free at 1.888.315.9257 for information on where to go to for testing and/or assessment and duration of isolation.
|Sore throat/hoarse voice||Fatigue|
|Loss of taste or smell||Headache|
|Vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours||Pink eye (conjunctivitis)|
|Nausea or loss of appetite|
|Poor feeding (if an infant)|
Please note: individuals with symptoms outlined in columns A and B, who choose not to be tested, must isolate for a minimum of 10 days following the start of symptoms. Isolation can be stopped at day 10 if the individual has been symptom free for 24 hours.
All Manitobans are encouraged to follow the fundamentals to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This means staying home if you are sick, washing/sanitizing your hands, covering your cough, and physically distancing when you are with people outside your household. Always wear a mask in indoor and outdoor public places, even if physically distanced.
We are all in this pandemic together. The CMU community is doing fantastic work, and it is so appreciated—thank you.
