Dr. Paul Doerksen | 2025 Kay and Lorne Dick Teaching Excellence Award recipient (video)

Dr. Paul Doerksen, Associate Professor of Theology and Anabaptist Studies and P.M. Friesen Co-Chair in Biblical and Theological Studies, has worked at CMU since 2011. He and Verna Wiebe, Teaching Assistant Professor of Music, are co-recipients of the 2025 Kay and Lorne Dick Teaching Excellence Award.
The award, established in 2022, is granted annually to two faculty members who best exemplify CMU's commitment to excellent teaching.

CMU already offers more than 300 unique scholarships, awards, and bursaries to the student population, and now, as part of the university's intention to make education accessible and affordable, CMU is now offering an automatic $1,000 entrance award for students who have graduated from Mennonite high schools.
This eligibility extends to American as well as Canadian high schools.

Lynda Loewen has worked at CMU for over 15 years, first as a sessional instructor and today as Teaching Assistant Professor of Psychology. She has also worked as a therapist, her first vocation, since 2008. She and Dr. John Brubacher, Associate Professor of Biology, are co-recipients of the 2024 Kay and Lorne Dick Teaching Excellence Award.
The award, established in 2022, is granted annually to two faculty members who best exemplify CMU's commitment to excellent teaching.

Under the vaulted arched ceilings of the historic Knox United Church in downtown Winnipeg, Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) celebrated its 25th graduating class on April 26, 2025. This landmark year for the university saw 97 graduates receive their diplomas in front of a large gathering of family, friends, CMU faculty, and staff.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls opened the ceremony by saying, "As a university moved and transformed by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, CMU is gifted by the diverse range of people and communities who entrust themselves to learn together."

Dr. Joss Reimer, Chief Medical Officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, will be recognized with the 2024 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls will present the award to Reimer at CMU's convocation ceremony on April 27 at Bethel Mennonite Church, where Reimer will also give the graduation address.

César García, the General Secretary for Mennonite World Conference (MWC), will be recognized with the 2023 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Dr. Cheryl Pauls will present the award at CMU's Convocation Ceremony on April 29 at Bethel Mennonite Church, where García will also give the commencement address.

CMU student Katrina Lengsavath is one of only 17 Canadians to receive the 2022 Terry Fox Humanitarian Award. She was chosen from 503 applicants across the country for the prestigious scholarship, which honours Terry Fox's legacy by encouraging young people who are passionate about helping others and who demonstrate perseverance in the face of adversity.
