CMU theology student receives prized Canada Graduate Scholarship

CMU student Karissa Durant has been awarded a prestigious Canada Graduate Scholarship Master's award worth $17,500.
The Government of Canada announced in March the results of the competition for the 2022/23 academic year. The scholarships are administered by Canada's federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Dr. Joss Reimer, Chief Medical Officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, will be recognized with the 2024 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls will present the award to Reimer at CMU's convocation ceremony on April 27 at Bethel Mennonite Church, where Reimer will also give the graduation address.

A growing need for spiritual care directors in Winnipeg hospitals and faith-based personal care homes has prompted the creation of a new program at Canadian Mennonite University.
The master of arts in spiritual care is being offered in collaboration with St. Boniface Hospital and Selkirk Mental Health Centre.
The need became evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when half of 49 positions in the capital city became vacant due to retirements, said Kathleen Rempel Boschman, lead for spiritual care services at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) has added a new master of arts degree to its Graduate School of Theology and Ministry (GSTM) programming. As of fall 2023, students will be able to earn a Master of Arts in Spiritual Care, in addition to the three pre-existing master's options: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theological Studies, and Master of Arts in Christian Ministry.

After two years of outdoor ceremonies and air hugs, the Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) community observed this year's graduation in a more familiar way. On April 30, students, staff, faculty, family, and friends gathered at Bethel Mennonite Church to celebrate the Class of 2022.
An excited atmosphere and many masked, smiling faces marked the occasion, as CMU was finally able to once again host an indoor convocation ceremony, also livestreamed online, and reception. With a total of 108 graduates, the Class of 2022 is CMU's biggest graduating class ever.
