CMU to honour Dr. Joss Reimer with 2024 PAX Award
Dr. Joss Reimer, Chief Medical Officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, will be recognized with the 2024 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls will present the award to Reimer at CMU's convocation ceremony on April 27 at Bethel Mennonite Church, where Reimer will also give the graduation address.

With Gratitude is a CMU graduation weekend event at which class members share their experiences through spoken word or musical performance. The event brings together family members, graduates, students, faculty, and staff, and affords graduates a valuable opportunity to showcase what their studies have meant to them.

"Students in the Master of Arts in Peacebuilding and Collaborative Development (MA-PCD) program are a diverse group. They come from around the world, and they bring a wide variety of educational, vocational, and life experiences," says Associate Registrar for Graduate Studies, Valerie Smith.
Canadian Mennonite University celebrates Class of 2021
After a year of mingling on Zoom and many online classes, the CMU community gathered in-person on August 21 to celebrate the Class of 2021. At an outdoor convocation ceremony on CMU's grounds, CMU President Dr. Cheryl Pauls conferred 68 undergraduate degrees, 20 master's degrees, and three certificates.

What makes graduate studies programs unique at CMU? Valerie Smith, Associate Registrar for Graduate Studies, says that "being rooted in the Anabaptist tradition, we specialize in peacebuilding and reconciliation-oriented programs, even in the ways we teach business. There is plenty of space for diversity within the programs, creating conversations that cross disciplinary boundaries. Dialogue is one of our greatest strengths."
Convocation 2019-20: Outdoor event honours the class of 2020 (video)
An outdoor convocation ceremony, celebrating graduates who completed their degrees in April, was held on the grounds of CMU on August 26. Maximum group size restrictions, physical distancing, and masks did not detract from celebrating the degree completion of 91 students, 58 of whom were able to be present at the event. CMU is deeply grateful for the contributions these students will make in church and society.
‘For the straight way was lost’: Navigating faith, grad studies, and mental illness
When MA Theology student Grace Kang was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she found herself forced to re-evaluate almost everything. So she went to grad school.
Haeon Grace Kang—Grace, in Anglophone circles—came to CMU searching for God: "I thought that studying God might help me to find a more intimate relationship with God. So far, I'd say that has worked out," she says.
