Cross-continental research: CMU business faculty dive into UK economics

Two Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) faculty hopped the pond this past summer, not just to see the English countryside, visit Buckingham Palace, or catch a football game. They were there strictly for work purposes and to pursue extended research in their fields. Well, maybe also to see a little bit of countryside.
Jerry Buckland, Professor of International Development Studies and Craig Martin, Assistant Professor of Business may not have been in the UK for the same project, but their economic back (IDS) grounds mean both will bring back a wealth of valuable reports and material that will help sustain CMU's business and IDS studies.

CMU alumna Tomisin Bolorunduro moved to Vancouver, a city where she knew no one, in the midst of a pandemic. But what she moved for was worth it: a job at Trulioo, an innovative tech start-up and global leader in online identity verification and data privacy.
In today's digital world, one can do almost everything online, from opening a bank account to buying cryptocurrency to renting a house—but all these transactions require identity verification and data protection to ensure they're safe and legitimate.

Kayla Yanke (CMU '18) was one of the first students to graduate with CMU's Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Co-op degree, majoring in Accounting. After walking across the convocation stage in cap and gown, she was ready to join the workforce.
But just five months later, she suddenly faced being uprooted from the network she had established when she and her husband had to move across the country from Winnipeg, MB to Victoria, BC for his job in the military.

Toward the end of the 2020 winter semester, just ahead of the global COVID-19 pandemic, senior students in CMU's BA Business program were working with member companies in CMU's associated Centre for Resilience, as part of their term project for BUSI-4020: Business and Organizational Policy.

With her international work, study, and life experience, Tomisin Bolorunduro knows how the world does business. Coming to CMU expanded her horizons and priorities.
Tomisin Bolorunduro is a current student of CMU's Master of Business Administration [MBA] program. At age 27, she has lived in four countries on both sides of the Atlantic. Despite already holding a master's degree in banking finance and corporate law, she came to CMU seeking professional development. What she got, she says, went a whole lot farther.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is pleased to announce three new faculty appointments, all to start in their roles on July 1, 2017.

Dr. Jonathan Dueck
Dr. Jonathan Dueck, Vice President Academic and Academic Dean: Dueck holds a PhD from the University of Alberta in Music (Ethnomusicology). He is currently Assistant Professor of Writing and Deputy Director of Writing in the Disciplines at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., an interdisciplinary position that gives Dueck the opportunity to work with scholars and students in a variety of different faculties. He previously taught at Duke University, the University of Maryland, and the University of Alberta.

Canadian Mennonite University is pleased to introduce the second of two new graduate studies programs to launch for the 2015/16 academic year. In addition to the recently unveiled Master of Arts in Peacebuilding and Collaborative Development, CMU announces its participation in a Collaborative Masters of Business Administration program.

The Collaborative MBA is an accredited online program jointly offered by Eastern Mennonite University, Goshen College, Bluffton University, and CMU. Built on six core values—honouring community, leading as service, upholding justice, planning for sustainability, global citizenship, and growing spiritually—classes are delivered in synchronous (live video conferencing) and asynchronous (online learning/information sharing outside of the constraints of time and place) to accommodate both learning and employment
