CMU professor selected for major financial literacy research advisory group

Jerry Buckland, PhD, CMU Professor of Economics and International Development Studies, was recently selected to be a member of the International Network on Financial Education (INFE), a leading institution in the field of financial literacy and education.
The INFE is a project of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an organization with headquarters in Paris and approximately 70 member countries, which works to measure and improve financial literacy around the world. Buckland says, "The OECD's INFE has been a pioneer in promoting financial education internationally."

Seasonal Reflections on Food, Faith, and Land
This month on Sunday@CMU, we are rebroadcasting reflections from Kenton Lobe, Teaching Assistant Professor of International Development and Environmental Studies at CMU. In addition to teaching part-time, Kenton runs a small community shared agriculture farm in Neubergthal, Manitoba. Throughout this series, he explores the relationship between food, faith, and land.

Two Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) faculty hopped the pond this past summer, not just to see the English countryside, visit Buckingham Palace, or catch a football game. They were there strictly for work purposes and to pursue extended research in their fields. Well, maybe also to see a little bit of countryside.
Jerry Buckland, Professor of International Development Studies and Craig Martin, Assistant Professor of Business may not have been in the UK for the same project, but their economic back (IDS) grounds mean both will bring back a wealth of valuable reports and material that will help sustain CMU's business and IDS studies.

A pianist from Inglis, Manitoba is the winner of the 18th annual Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU).
Georg Neuhofer's performance in the finals, held on Thursday, March 23 in CMU's Laudamus Auditorium, earned him first place and the $700 prize that comes with it.

At first glance, it may not seem like music, climate justice, and queerness would cross career paths. But Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) alum Anna Bigland-Pritchard has built a life that weaves together these strands.
The 30-year-old soprano lives in Victoria, BC, where she divides her time between studying under renowned soprano Nancy Argenta, managing marketing at Vancouver Bach Choirs, directing music ministry at Oak Bay United Church, and teaching through her small business, ABP Music Studio. She also dedicates time to advocating for climate justice and facilitating workshops on eco-mindfulness, which she has done for institutions like KAIROS, University of Toronto, and CMU.

Something new and exciting is developing in the neighbourhood very close to Canadian Mennonite University (CMU). The area will soon be home to the largest, strategically located urban Indigenous economic zone in Canada and the biggest multi-use project in modern Winnipeg history.
The public is invited to gather and learn more at the university's upcoming Face2Face event, "Naawi-Oodena: A Town Hall Conversation" on Saturday, September 24 at 7:00 PM.
