CMU celebrates the Class of 2025: a landmark year in the CMU story

Under the vaulted arched ceilings of the historic Knox United Church in downtown Winnipeg, Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) celebrated its 25th graduating class on April 26, 2025. This landmark year for the university saw 97 graduates receive their diplomas in front of a large gathering of family, friends, CMU faculty, and staff.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls opened the ceremony by saying, "As a university moved and transformed by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, CMU is gifted by the diverse range of people and communities who entrust themselves to learn together."

Bob Haverluck, a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and theologian from Manitoba will be awarded the 2025 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
As a community leader, Haverluck has encouraged wonder and passion for environmentalism and driven us to care for our neighbours in big and small ways. His dedication to social transformation embodies the foundational cornerstone of CMU's mission.

Theologians and community organizers Terry LeBlanc and Bev LeBlanc will be honored with the 2022 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls will present the award to the LeBlancs on April 30 at CMU's 2022 graduation ceremony, where Terry LeBlanc will also give the commencement address.

Rudy Wiebe, is best known for his novels set in the Canadian prairies and his representations of Indigenous people. He was awarded the Governor General's Award for Fiction twice, for The Temptations of Big Bear (1973) and A Discovery of Strangers (1994) and won the Charles Taylor Prize for Of This Earth: a Mennonite Boyhood in the Boreal Forest (2006).

Acclaimed Winnipeg singer-songwriter Steve Bell received the 2018 CMU PAX Award on April 15, 2018.
Over the course of a 25 year solo career, Steve Bell has been sharing a message of love, hope and faith through songs, stories, and writings. He is a purveyor of truth and beauty and champion of kindness, on a focused mission to "encourage Christian faith and thoughtful living through artful word and song." He is a mentor to many, and an advocate of numerous meaningful causes.
