Two months into Canadian Mennonite University's (CMU) inaugural Bachelor of Education After-Degree Program, future teachers are already putting their learning into practice. Through classroom discussions, school placements, and Indigenous land-based education, students are exploring an approach to teaching that places belonging and relationships at the centre of learning.

Madly Friesen (CMU '20, BMus) - Bringing New Sounds to Faraday School (Winnipeg School Division)
At Faraday School, the music room is a place where students explore creativity through music, dance, drama, and movement. Teacher Madly Friesen creates opportunities for students to express themselves, collaborate, and find a sense of belonging through the performing arts.
Starting their second teaching year at Faraday, Friesen is already celebrating significant milestones. Students won the CBC Music Class Challenge with their original song, "Rise to the Challenge", and the school received an $18,000 MusiCounts Innovation Grant to expand its music program.
Business leaders and students explore hope and opportunity at CMU
Conversations continued long after the formal program ended when approximately 150 business leaders, students, and alumni gathered at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) on October 2 to explore how businesses can help build stronger communities.
Co-hosted by CMU and Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), Taking Society Forward brought participants together in Marpeck Commons for a panel discussion, small-group conversations, and opportunities to connect with business leaders.

CMU to host public dialogue on community resilience
Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is hosting a one-of-a-kind community gathering, open to the public on October 23 in Marpeck Commons.
As part of the LINCZ conference, Community Dialogue: Building Resilience Through People and Nature brings together researchers, practitioners, and community members from Canada, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon to discuss how people and communities are building resilience in the face of environmental, social, and climate challenges.
