CMU announces changes to senior administration team

CMU is pleased to announce new placements within its senior administration team with Charlie Peronto as the Dean of Student Life and John Unger as the Vice President, Administration & Finance.

Charlie Peronto – Effective July 1, Peronto will begin as Dean of Student Life. This follows exemplary work as Director, Student Life in 2020-21. Peronto previously served as CMU Residence Director for six years. Earlier work as the Pastor of Student Ministries at Steinbach MB Church and as Seniors and Indigenous Peoples Activity Coordinator with the Churchill Regional Health Authority also prepared Peronto for this role, given involvement with young adults and others coming from diverse backgrounds and faith homes.

Peronto says, "I approach Student Life at CMU with vision, passion, deep care, and thoughtfulness. To work at CMU is to respond to the call of involvement in Student Life and to engage in the lives of students. This is vital to a holistic, transformative education vision and the formation of students and communities."

John Unger – Effective June 1, Unger returns to CMU as Vice President, Administration & Finance. His exemplary capacity as custodian of the university's administrative infrastructure is matched by his deep understanding and demonstrated vision for post-secondary education at CMU.

"I see university education as foundational to our society because we help students see themselves as contributing citizens and good neighbours. CMU has a unique voice among Canada's universities because we point to God as the source of the goodness we experience in our communities."

The commencement of Peronto and Unger in these roles will coincide with the June 1 start of Sandy Koop Harder as Vice President, External following the retirement of Terry Schellenberg. Together, these placements complete the transformation of the senior administration team at CMU ahead of the 2021-22 academic year.
