Thirsting for Faith, Quenching Doubt: Stories of Water in Life and Scripture
This month on Sunday@CMU, we are rebroadcasting a series from CMU's former Residence Director and CMU alumna, Mackenzie Nicolle. In these reflections, she speaks about the ways in which water, thirst, faith, and doubt interrelate in the Bible and in her own life.

Lynda Loewen has worked at CMU for over 15 years, first as a sessional instructor and today as Teaching Assistant Professor of Psychology. In the 2024/25 academic year, she taught Interpersonal Communication, Counseling Theories, Counseling Techniques, and Trauma and Resilience. She also works as a therapist, her first vocation, which she has been doing since 2008.

Over the past few months, CMU's Uphold Campaign, which is revitalizing and renewing the Poettcker Hall residence at CMU, has made significant strides with the installation of a new geothermal field to provide heating and cooling to the dormitory.
In mid 2024, CMU was the recipient of $351,000 in funding from the Government of Manitoba through the Merit-based Low Carbon Economy Fund, a collaborative funding initiative between the Government of Canada and the Manitoba government.

John Longhurst (MBBC '79), Winnipeg, MB, was appointed to the Order of Canada in December 2024 for his interfaith journalism at the Winnipeg Free Press, where he has been a faith page columnist since 2003 and a faith reporter since 2019. Through his writing, he seeks to connect people across religions and strives to foster understanding and respect. Longhurst also writes for various other publications in Canada and the U.S., including Canadian Affairs, Anabaptist World, Faith Today, Christian Courier and the Canadian Jewish News. He has won awards for his writing from the Associated Church Press and the Canadian Church Press and, in 2021, he received the Manitoba Lieutenant Governor's Award for the Advancement of Interreligious Understanding.
