CMU Announces Free Residence for All First-Year Students Starting Fall 2026
Wednesday, October 22, 2025 @ 10:35 AM
Canadian Mennonite University is thrilled to announce a bold new initiative that brings free dormitory housing to all first-year undergraduate students, beginning in Fall 2026. This transformative program is made possible through the generous support of a CMU donor who believed deeply in the power of community to shape academic success.
"Living in dorms at CMU is about finding your people, discovering your purpose, and stepping into a community that champions your academic growth. It's so much more than just a room." said Charlie Peronto, Vice-President Student Life and Campus Operations. "By removing cost barriers, we're opening the door for every student to begin their university journey surrounded by support, belonging, and opportunity. As far as we know the first program of its kind in Canada—this a transformational shift in Manitoba post-secondary."
