Canadian Mennonite University (CMU)’s Centre for Resilience is now open for business.

The Centre for Resilience (CFR) is a co-working lab that will incubate and nurture social enterprises. Faculty, students and staff celebrated the grand opening of the $1.7 million centre on April 13.
"We're thankful for the opportunity to create a space designed to meet the needs of the 21st century," says James Magnus-Johnston, director of the centre. "The CFR will maximize the impact of social entrepreneurs, and allow students to work on complex, real-world problems."

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) has unveiled the completion of a $1.7 million Centre for Resilience on April 13, 2018, thanks in part to investments by the governments of Canada and Manitoba.
Special guests included Doug Eyolfson, Member of Parliament for Charleswood–St. James–Assiniboia–Headingley; Honourable Ian Wishart, Manitoba Minister of Education and Training, and Honourable Heather Stefanson, Manitoba Minister of Justice and Attorney General.

A pianist from Saskatchewan is the winner of the 13th annual Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU).
Emma Heinrichs' performance earned her first place and the $700 prize that comes with it on Thursday, February 15.

Five refugee resettlement experts with experience in Canada's past and present programs formed a panel to discuss and examine the past, present, and future of Canada's refugee resettlement efforts.
"Canada has a long history of resettling refugees," says Dr. Stephanie Stobbe, Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution Studies at Menno Simons College, who moderated the panel. "Today there are 17.2 million refugees under UNHCR's mandate, and over 1 million refugees are in need of resettlement. We want to explore what the future of Canada's resettlement program might look like."

Canadian Mennonite University is pleased to announce the 13th Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition, which will take place on Thursday, February 15.
The annual event features students from the CMU School of Music competing for three cash prizes. The first-place winner is awarded $700, the second-place winner receives $500, and the third-place winner takes home $300.

Rick Lindroth (PhD, University of Illinois-Urbana) is a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of Ecology and recent Associate Dean for Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). His research focuses on evolutionary ecology and global change ecology in forest ecosystems. He and his students have published ~200 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters. Lindroth has been a Fulbright Fellow and is a Fellow of the Ecological Society of America, the Entomological Society of America, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
