CMU launches spiritual care concentration for master's program

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) has added a new master of arts degree to its Graduate School of Theology and Ministry (GSTM) programming. As of fall 2023, students will be able to earn a Master of Arts in Spiritual Care, in addition to the three pre-existing master's options: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theological Studies, and Master of Arts in Christian Ministry.

Master of Divinity degree at CMU: Fall 2019

Beginning in September 2019, Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) will offer the Master of Divinity (MDiv), a new program of its Graduate School of Theology and Ministry (GSTM).

The MDiv is considered a gold standard by many denominations. The three-year program provides an extensive and thorough preparation for Christian ministry, including strong emphasis on discerning vocational calling and a field-based independent study tailored to each student's specific context. The program is suited for those considering Christian ministry or currently working in the field and wanting to grow in their knowledge and skills for faithful ministry.

Mennonite Pastors and Scholars Involved in Ecumenical Gathering

"I wonder whether Jesus' call for Christian unity isn't an invitation to focus on what unites rather than divides us, in order to see that everyone brings something valuable to God's kingdom." So said Kathy Koop, Pastor of First Mennonite Church, in reflecting on a recent ecumenical gathering. On May 9, "Behold! I do a New Thing—Emerging Perspectives in Ministry" took place at the Charleswood United Church. Using Isaiah 43:19, "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" as a springboard, the day saw one hundred participants, including more than 20 Mennonite Church Manitoba and MB pastors, come together for resourcing and fellowship.
