Theme: "Who do I say that I am?" Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John
As we enter the spring/summer semester, we are looking back on this year of Sunday@CMU. This month, we are rebroadcasting a series of meditations by Marnie Klassen, a CMU alumna who graduated with an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Theology. Throughout this series, Marnie explores what we can learn about Jesus from his many I AM statements in the Gospel of John.

Mennonite literary studies in North America is in a period of transition, with new scholarly avenues opening as critics respond to a fast-growing body of Mennonite fiction, poetry, and life writing. What does Mennonite literature look like today, and how can we read it most productively?

Dr. Robert Zacharias is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at York University in Toronto, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Mennonite Studies. He is editor of After Identity: Mennonite Writing in North America (2016), and author of Rewriting the Break Event: Mennonites and Migration in Canadian Literature (2012). His new book, Reading Mennonite Writing: A Study in Minor Transnationalism, is forthcoming this spring from Penn State University Press.

Theme: Taste and See that the Lord is Good
This month on Sunday@CMU, we are hearing from CMU's newest faculty member, Sunder John Boopalan, assistant professor of biblical and theological studies. He has previously taught at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts and pastored in a Baptist church in the Boston area. Throughout this series of meditations, John will dive into CMU's chapel theme of the year, Taste and See, based on Psalm 34:8.

CMU is pleased to announce new placements within its senior administration team with Charlie Peronto as the Dean of Student Life and John Unger as the Vice President, Administration & Finance.
Charlie Peronto – Effective July 1, Peronto will begin as Dean of Student Life. This follows exemplary work as Director, Student Life in 2020-21. Peronto previously served as CMU Residence Director for six years. Earlier work as the Pastor of Student Ministries at Steinbach MB Church and as Seniors and Indigenous Peoples Activity Coordinator with the Churchill Regional Health Authority also prepared Peronto for this role, given involvement with young adults and others coming from diverse backgrounds and faith homes.

On January 11, John H. Neufeld, former President and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at CMBC (from 1984-1997), passed away after many years of battling a series of severe health crises. Being the last long-term president before CMU became a university, Neufeld's presence and passion was a formative force that helped prepare the way for furthering the quality of education in what is now the CMU community.

On February 16, John Longhurst received the Lieutenant-Governor's Award for the Advancement of Interreligious Understanding, an annual honour presented to a Manitoban who embodies understanding between religious groups.
Longhurst graduated in 1979 from Mennonite Brethren Bible College, one of CMU's predecessor colleges, and was CMU's Director of Communications from 2005-09. He has been a freelance faith columnist and reporter at the Winnipeg Free Press since 2003. Two years ago, he initiated a project to increase religion coverage at the Free Press, one of the reasons he has earned this award.
