CMU student helps team place third in innovative business competition

When Rosalyn Dao, a student in the Redekop School of Business at CMU, heard about an opportunity to spend her weekend solving a business challenge for a real company and presenting it before an audience—all within 48 hours, and with a team she had never met—she was eager to take on the challenge.
The opportunity was Sprint to Innovate: The Innovation Challenge, powered by Canada Life. This year's edition, running January 30 to February 1, brought together around 100 students in technology and business from post-secondary institutions across Manitoba. Each team of four to six students raced to create a solution and viable prototype for a challenge presented by an industry organization, then prepare and deliver a pitch before the weekend was over. Dao's team, which included her and five RRC Polytech students, placed third.

The Verna and Peter Janzen Music Competition at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) brought together a range of student performers, with violinist Bella-Sophia Rogers earning first place at the finals held in the CMU Laudamus Auditorium on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
"The performance was exhilarating. I have performed for larger audiences before, but never one so full of friendly faces, and as soon as I looked out into the crowd it stopped being about impressing an anonymous crowd of faces and became an opportunity to show all my friends who I really am," Rogers said. "I was floored when it was announced that I had won—everyone performed fabulously and I was honoured to stand on that stage in front of my friends and colleagues for such a triumphant moment."

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) has appointed Calvin Reimer and Noel Kendle as head coaches of its new varsity cross-country running program within CMU Blazers Athletics.
Reimer and Kendle bring nearly two decades of combined experience as both student-athletes and coaches with the Manitoba Running Association.
