Farmer’s market, pie bake-off add to Fall Festival's ‘country fair’ feel

New to this year’s CMU Fall Festival is the farmer’s market happening in the morning on Saturday, Sept. 28. In addition to vegetables from the CMU Farm, the market will feature a variety of different local food and other vendors.
Megan Klassen-Wiebe, a CMU alumnus who is organizing the farmer’s market, is hoping that participants will include vegetable vendors, a honey producer, jewelry makers, baked goods, and perhaps a fruit producer.

With its forward-thinking blend of pop, rock, hip-hop, dance, soul, and electronic music, as well as its energetic live shows, Royal Canoe has made a name for itself as one of Winnipeg's most exciting bands.
Two of the band's singles have reached the Top 5 on CBC Radio 3, they have toured throughout North America and Europe, and they've earned praise from venerable publications like The New York Times to blogs like This Music Doesn't Suck, which described the band's sound as "a clever blend of aesthetics and genres executed with a confidence and expertise usually reserved for more established groups."

Heather Schellenberg and Michael Harms recently moved to South Korea, where they will teach English for one year.
But before they left, the CMU alumni—who were married in 2012—bought a tile to support the university's Come Together: Be a Bridge Builder campaign.

Paul and Joani (Goerzen) Neufeldt were both taught growing up that tithing is important. So when they married, they decided to regularly give away at least 10 per cent of their gross income.
When Joani gave birth to their son Cayden three years ago, the couple had their wills written and they thought about their giving plan even more.

Athletics plays an important role for many people who study at CMU, whether it's competing on one of the university's basketball, volleyball or soccer teams, sitting in the stands cheering on those teams, or playing pick-up hockey on the ice rink on south campus.
So it's no surprise that the schedule for Fall Festival 2013 includes two basketball games. The women's and men's teams will face off against the Providence University College Freemen on Friday, Sept. 27.
