Pereira Appointed As New Head Coach of Men’s Soccer Program
He is no stranger to the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference. On Monday CMU Athletics announced Anderson Pereira as the new head coach of the Men's Soccer program, succeeding Athletics Director Russell Willms who recently stepped down from his coaching position.
While a student athlete, Pereira laced up his boots for the Red River Rebels, captaining the program in each of his three years as a player and leading his team to their first-ever Championship in Men's Futsal in 2017 where he was named Most Valuable Player. Pereira moved into the coaching ranks in September 2017 as an assistant coach with the Rebels program and as the native of Santa Vitoria do Palmar, Brazil became more rooted in the Winnipeg soccer community, he found many club coaches reaching out to him for his ability to positively influence their youth players in technical and tactical elements of the game.

For the first time in my degree, I took a class purely on a recommendation, and man alive am I glad I decided to.
After some conversation and discernment, my academic advisor told me that she thought I should take Arts Based Approaches to Social Change from the Canadian School of Peacebuilding (CSOP). I liked the idea of getting some credits out of the way and having an excuse to come back to Winnipeg mid-summer. The course sounded mildly interesting, and though not related to the direction my Interdisciplinary degree seemed to be taking, I decided to just do it.

Centre for Resilience: meeting 21st century needs
Canadian Mennonite University's Centre for Resilience is now open for business.
The Centre for Resilience (CFR) is a co-working lab on the fourth floor of CMU's historic building at 500 Shaftesbury Blvd. that will incubate and nurture social enterprises. Faculty, students and staff celebrated the grand opening of the $1.7 million centre on April 13.
