Practicum student captures camp life through poetry

When Nadya Langelotz decided to direct a summer camp, she thought it would require putting on hold one of her biggest passions: writing.
It was while working at the end of last semester in CMU's printing press, located in one of CMU's castle-like towers, that the fifth-year English major lamented to her friend that she wouldn't have time to write during the busy schedule of camp. When her friend suggested doing it as a practicum at camp, Langelotz doubted it would work. How could writing and camp go together?

Preliminary fall enrolment at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) indicate an overall 3% increase in CMU students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs. This increase reflects both headcount and full-time equivalent (FTE) course registrations.
Anticipated full year FTE registrations for 2019/20 is 955 FTE, for all CMU programs. This includes 670 FTE through CMU's main campus on Shaftesbury Blvd., and an enrolment of 285 FTE at Menno Simons College (CMU's downtown program centre).

Recent CMU graduate Amelia Warkentin (class of '19) is the winner of this year's C. Henry Smith Oratorical Contest. Her first-place speech, titled "Finding Health and Peace Through Self-Care", has earned her $400 USD in prize money, forthcoming publication in Mennonite Weekly Review, and a scholarship for participation in a peace-related conference of her choice.

Canadian Mennonite University is taking a page out of the books of some of the most prestigious schools in the world with its latest academic offering.
The Winnipeg-based post-secondary institution is preparing to welcome students for a second year of "W" courses, all of which are designed to develop and fine-tune students' writing skills.
