Step inside the doors of Canadian Mennonite University's (CMU) library, and you'll find yourself at the institution's heart. Each shelf holds stories of the past, present, and future, ready to be explored. The CMU library is more than just a resource; it's a place where curiosity thrives and community bonds are strengthened.
Over 135,000 items are in CMU's collection, but a significantly smaller subset sits in the special collections room. It's a place where Professor of English Paul Dyck says the utility and value of printed books will remain eternal.

Dr. Joss Reimer, Chief Medical Officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, will be recognized with the 2024 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) PAX Award.
CMU President Cheryl Pauls will present the award to Reimer at CMU's convocation ceremony on April 27 at Bethel Mennonite Church, where Reimer will also give the graduation address.

The 19th annual Verna Mae Janzen Music Competition at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) reached a rousing crescendo this year, as the night's final performer, William Harder, was awarded first place.
The Winnipeg violinist says, "It is really rewarding to have some very tangible recognition for all of the work that gets put into practicing music."

Renowned scholar and theologian Dr. Willie James Jennings is in high demand across North America. On his schedule this month is a trip to Canadian Mennonite University (CMU), where he'll be delivering the 2023 J.J. Thiessen Lecture.
He will deliver his lecture, titled, "Gathering the pieces that remain: Weaving life together from the fragments of faith, race, and land" on Friday, October 27 at 7:00 PM in person at Marpeck Commons (2299 Grant Ave.) and via livestream.

In 2017, André Forget was asked by friend and collaborator Joel Peters (CMU, 2011) to write a short story about a fictitious underwater organ. The only rule was to keep the story around 2,000 words. Forget ended up writing a 10,000-word academic dissertation about the mythical instrument, which he named the hydroöganon. Complete with invented scholars debating each other's theses and extensive details as to the engineering of the instrument, the story, originally titled The Lower Registers, served as the impetus for writing his debut novel In the City of Pigs, published by Dundurn Press in the summer of 2022.
