This year we celebrate the story of Canadian Mennonite University at its 25-year cadence. This is a worthy breathing place—a time to say thank you, tell stories, reckon with the times, and attune ourselves to gifts in much vaster spans.
We offer tribute to generations of people who had a stake in building and nourishing CMU since long before the notion of coming together as a university was even a dream. We're inspired by thousands of alumni of CMU and predecessor colleges, whose lives bear witness to why this place matters to church and society.

When applying to CMU, I didn't really have a firm idea of what I wanted to major in. I had interests, sure, and knew that any sort of science was going to be more than I could handle. Ancient history had always been something I enjoyed (being a Percy Jackson kid), and when browsing the registration guide, I saw a few classes that I wanted to know more about.

Kenny Wollmann is a high school educator, teaching primarily Bible, theology, and world religions—but not in a typical classroom. Wollmann teaches students online in Hutterite communities across Manitoba and even into the northern United States.
Hutterites are communal Anabaptist Christian groups who live in rural colonies, share belongings and resources, and often sustain themselves through agriculture. With only small groups of students in each community, sharing resources, like teachers who are each experts in their subjects, helps ensure a robust learning program.

CMU was a place of transition, community, and discovery for Evan Klassen, Executive Director of the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC).
"My first gig was on this stage here in the ... [Laudamus Auditorium]," he says, explaining that he helped organize a theatre production of A Man for All Seasons with a small group of fellow students. He stage-managed, ran sound cues, and discovered the kind of collaborative, behind-the-scenes work that would eventually define his career.

Dean Dueck began his studies at CMU in 2009, transferring from Steinbach Bible College (SBC). "CMU had a really good relationship and good credit transfers between the two universities," he says. This allowed him to dive into a business program that was launching, gaining experiences that would shape his career and approach to problem-solving.
Being among the first students in what was then a fairly new business program at CMU came with unique opportunities. Under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Business, Craig Martin, he explored courses such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and business law.
