CMU degree fosters holistic approach to therapy

Rachel Robertson has always been interested in understanding why people do what they do, and CMU's free counselling services furthered her passion for mental health care. "I would like to say my time at CMU was the best time of my life, but honestly it wasn't always; some years were really hard. But it was at CMU where I first accessed mental health supports, and that was life-changing for me," she says.

The Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers Athletics program has figured it out.
Last season, in particular, was a cut above the rest. Over half the teams from a variety of sports made conference finals, the women's volleyball team made an appearance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championships, while the men's basketball team won gold with its first Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) championship since 2017.

Anika Reynar (CMU '17, Interdisciplinary Studies – Social Ecology) lives her life with one foot in the library and one foot in the garden—and also the classroom, the church, and around the table. She's pursuing her passions by doing not just one, but two, master's degrees simultaneously at Yale University.
Reynar is working on a Master of Arts in Religion through Yale Divinity School and a Master of Environmental Management through Yale School of Environment. She's in her third and last year of the joint program in New Haven, Connecticut. "I broadly describe what I'm interested in as being focused around land use and how communities who potentially hold different value sets negotiate how land is used."

CMU Blazers athletes were two of only six students across the country to receive a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Torchbearer Scholarship last year.
The award recognizes student-athletes who exemplify leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship in their schools, sports teams, and wider communities.

Jayme Menzies, head coach of Canadian Mennonite University's (CMU) Women's Volleyball team, has been inducted into the North American Indigenous Athletes Hall of Fame.
Menzies is a decorated and celebrated individual within Manitoba sports. She is recognized for her achievements as both athlete and coach, as well as her outstanding leadership both on and off the court.

Perfect again. The #1 seed Canadian Mennonite University Blazers completed another undefeated season finishing with a fifth consecutive Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) Women's Basketball Championship title in front of a packed Loewen Athletic Centre in Winnipeg.
The host CMU defeated the #2 seed Providence University College Pilots by a score of 73-48 on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in the Championship Final.

March 6, 2022 marked a momentous day for Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers Athletics. The Blazers men's volleyball team became the first-ever representative of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball National Championship.
Protracted titles aside, the Blazers are headed to nationals for the first time in CMU history.

Cara Isaak has been appointed to Director of Athletics at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU). Isaak will work across all athletics programs and help develop and bolster the already robust athletics programming at CMU.
Isaak has spent the past seven years as a coach of CMUs women's soccer team, and, in 2018, her experience helped lead the Blazers to their first MCAC Women's Soccer Championship since 2009.

Adaptability might be Annika Goodbrandson's greatest strength. As a multi-sport athlete, Goodbrandson understands the importance of versatility and flexibility. Goodbrandson is lacing up for Canadian Mennonite University's (CMU) Blazers women's basketball team this year, and her greatest strength will be to the test.
As a deaf individual, the prevalence of adaptability has been lifelong for the first-year CMU student. Goodbrandson's family became aware that she was deaf at the age of two, and shortly after, the decision was made to get cochlear implant surgery and start speech therapy. Because of this, Goodbrandson can hear relatively clearly and fills in what she can't by reading lips.
