2018 CSOP Lecture - A Transformative Spirituality for Peacebuilding
The World Council of Churches (WCC) project, Pilgrimage of Peace and Justice, calls on churches everywhere to walk together, to view their common life and journey of faith, as part of the pilgrimage of justice and peace, and to join together with others in celebrating life and to take steps toward transforming injustices and violence.
Dr. Fernando Enns is Professor of Theology and Ethics at Vrije Universiteit (Free University) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Director of the Institute of Peace Church Theology at the University of Hamburg, Germany. Enns is a WCC central committee member, and is the co-moderator of the pilgrimage reference group and of its theological study group.

"I wonder whether Jesus' call for Christian unity isn't an invitation to focus on what unites rather than divides us, in order to see that everyone brings something valuable to God's kingdom." So said Kathy Koop, Pastor of First Mennonite Church, in reflecting on a recent ecumenical gathering. On May 9, "Behold! I do a New Thing—Emerging Perspectives in Ministry" took place at the Charleswood United Church. Using Isaiah 43:19, "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" as a springboard, the day saw one hundred participants, including more than 20 Mennonite Church Manitoba and MB pastors, come together for resourcing and fellowship.

A Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) professor is the recipient of a prestigious federal grant.
Dr. Brian Froese, Associate Professor of History, received a five-year grant worth $93,000 through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Froese will use the grant for a research project addressing the intersection of conservative religion and politics in Western Canada from the 1880s to 1960s.
