The ChristianWeek Symposium on May 2-3, 2019 brought together Christian faith-based journalists from across Canada. Participants included members of the Canadian Church Press and the Anglican Editors Association along with others. CMU was very pleased to host this thoughtful and inspiring event!

Listening an act of service for alumna

As a journalist, Katie Doke Sawatzky (CMU '10) does a lot of listening. For her, it's an act of service.
"At the end of the day, you're just talking to people and listening, which I think is why I wanted to pursue journalism in the first place," she says. "I was interested in pursuing this line of work because you come at it from a stance of compassion."

The CMU community is saddened by the sudden passing of Bonnie Christine Mitchell on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Bonnie, aged 31 years of Brandon, MB, was the beloved wife of Stephen and caring mother to Connor and Brayden.

When Jonathan Plett decided to go back to school, he wasn't sure what he wanted to study.
"I was taking a whole bunch of courses at the U of M like Political Science, Canadian Geography, and Ancient Greek Culture. I figured if I did enough basic courses something would catch my interest," says Plett.

Rally for Refuge was a thought in my mind, that I wasn't sure would ever blossom. A few weeks ago I saw pictures, videos, and articles in the media about children being imprisoned in detention centers in the United States, and I felt a deep sense of responsibility in these moments.
