Nonviolent Resistance Training
Mondays: March 9, 16, 23, or 30
7:00–9:00 PM
Room S170 (Lecture Hall)
Location: 600 Shaftesbury Blvd.
Living Resistance is a hands-on training in the principles and practices of disciplined nonviolent action.
Led by CMU faculty member Karen Ridd, these sessions explore how communities around the world have resisted injustice without resorting to violence. Participants will learn about both the history and strategy of nonviolent resistance, and gain practical tools for responding thoughtfully in moments of tension or risk.
Using the form below, participants are asked to register for one date. Each session covers the same material.
The training includes:
• The history and strategy of nonviolent movements
• Practical exercises in responding constructively
• Acting collectively in moments of tension
• Resources for further exploration
Living Resistance complements the Singing Resistance gatherings by inviting participants to move from voice to body and from concern to action.
